PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports)
In 2015, Meadow Brook adopted a new behavior model for our students. The name of the program is PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports). Many districts across Kent County, and the United States, have adopted this model as well. As part of this program, students will see and hear the words: We Are Safe, We Are Respectful, We Are Responsible. All students are trained, throughout the building, on the playground and on the bus, on how to be safe, respectful and responsible. Families can reinforce this vocabulary and behavior at home.
In 2016, our PTO purchased Second-Step Curriculum Kits for each grade level to augment PBIS and the district-approved counseling lessons provided to our students. The Second-Step lessons (20-30 minutes each) will be taught throughout the school year by classroom teachers.
